Hotel Codru was build in the postwar period. Initially the hotel was located in the two storey building on the corner of 31August 1989 Street and Nicolae Iorga Street.
For the first time the hotel is mentioned in the document that dates 1876, when it belonged to Ecaterina Rashleakov. The old building was demolished at the beginning of the XX century, and the two storey residential house was constructed instead. The facade of the construction is designed in in eclectic style with classic proportions. The building is an architectural monument of local importance, registered in the Book of monuments of history and culture of Chisinau Academy of Sciences. 1974 the hotel received its current name - "CODRU" 1989 the hotel's category was upgraded to that of a hotel complex 1998 the hotel complex "CODRU" was registered with the Registration Chamber of the Republic of Moldova 2000 the State Agency on Protection of Intellectual Property AGEPI registered the trade mark "CODRU"
2004 CODRU was classified to 4 stars hotel by the Department of Tourism Development of the Republic of Moldova The hotel was renovated and modernized in the period from 2001 until 2007. 2009 Hotel Codru was privatized At the present moment the hotel is in the process of franchising with Whyndham brand Ramada
